Kolohe's Happy Holiday

Written Thursday, 17 December 2009 @ 8 pm PST. This beautiful creation is a happy time of my dog when I played with her at a neighborhood park just eleven days ago. She is a purebred Akita and she is dying from a terminal disease. Only four days ago I was thinking how wonderful it is to share a second Christmas with her. Unfortunately she would not survive the eight more days, I ponder a miracle of sorts would manifest. As a scientist I realize there is no cure for her malady, (humans face this incurable disease also). Within a matter of 38 hours she turned from a happy dog running along Shell Beach to turning a corner for the very worst. With all the immunosuppressant drugs given to her none could stop her immune system from killing her platelets. A deficient platelet level will cause internal/external bleeding and eventual multi-organ systems failure. So the right thing to do was to assist her in her transition. I could never end any life, as a Buddhist Christian it is a very challenging life event for me. I am listening to her wailing with pain now and decided to euthanize her this Friday, 18 December 2009 at 1 pm. UPDATE: Kolohe transcended at 12 Noon PST in Peace, Light and Love. In the brief sixteen months since her adoption Kolohe Wahine de Bubbs gave much needed Light, Unconditional Love, Devotion and Happiness to all remaining members of the Bubbs family. She is deeply missed now and forever.
