In Memory of America's True Rock and Roll King! If it hadn't been for Dick Clark we still would not be able to 'rock and roll', he made it so all of the racist and scared parents back in the 60's, would give Black music a chance. My Dad had so many Black Blues albums from when I was so young, he was aalready enlightended! But the times were so touchy, most middle aged parents thought rock and roll was the 'devils' music but DICK CLARK slowly and gently brought it all forward and opened up American Bandstand and would have radio stations play certain song...if it was played on American Bandstand, then it was ok! My favorite memory...I was 5 years old and my Dad had taken a trip back east with all of the family...one after noon as I watched my Grandpa use a spitoon, the entire house, my Grandparents, parents and my Mom's 9 brothers and sisters all sat around the t.v. and we all watched American Bandstand. Dick Clark gave me that memory. I also WENT to his show once when he held it at Angel Stadium, but at age 12..we couldn't get in. Still, I got to see Paul Revere and the Raiders, and one other band (forgot the name). Because of Dick Clark I will never forget my older sister teach me all of the dances: The twist, Louie-louie, the jerk,Mash Potatoes,etc., you name it. This is such a sad loss for all of the Rock and Roll people out there who will never know what he really did for people, music industry and just the little 12 year old girls who just wanted to dance on his show....one day. God Speed.......Rock On Dick, don't let them stop you from lovin what you do! What am I gonna do at Midnight on New Years Eve? I'll lift my glass to you this year!
