Happy September Birthday by Joyful226/ Connie
Happy Birthday to those born in September here is a little about your month as well. Your Birthstone is the Sapphire and your two birth flowers are the Aster and the Morning Glory This also has some of the special events holidays in September some more famous than others. Many school start either near the end of August or the beginning of September shown on the left-hand corner with the wise old owl and slate board that says "Back To School". On September 2nd is V.J.Day well officially that is the day, some say the 14 or 15 of August, However, the formal surrender ceremony was held in Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri. At the time, President Truman declared September 2 to be VJ Day. Regardless of which day you view as VJ Day, World War II was finally over. The battleship USS Missouri was chosen for the formal surrender ceremony, as she was named after President Truman's home state. To honor this day it is seen in the upper right-hand corner that says "Welcome Home Soldiers. Labor Day is Always the first Monday in September. Originally the first labor day was the 5th September Dedicated in honor of the worker, it is also appropriately called the "workingman's holiday". The holiday is dedicated to you with respect and appreciation for the work you do in or outside of the home, union or non-union, big company, small companies, or government. As long as you work somewhere at something, this holiday is for you! The first Labor Day was celebrated in New York City on September 5, 1882 and was started by the Central Labor Union in New York City. In 1884, it was moved to the first Monday in September where it is celebrated today. On June 28, 1894, the U.S. Congress voted it a national holiday. Labor Day is also viewed as the official end of summer. While the Fall Equinox is still a couple of weeks away, kids go back to school and summer vacations are over. Labor Day tradition: This day is celebrated with a day off and union-sponsored parades. Many people celebrate this weekend with one last picnic. It is also the last day to go to the pool, and to go boating for the next day it is all closed down. Labor day is seen on the left-hand side below the wise old owl. Next is on 9-11 I doubt anyone will ever forget where they were on the morning of September 11, 2001, when they heard of the attacks on the twin World Trade Towers in NYC and the Pentagon in Washington and a field in PA. This horrible and tragic day is etched forever in our memories. Like the attack on Pearl Harbor that brought us into World War II, the 9-11 attacks led us into a new war... the war on terrorism. On the morning of September 11, 2001, nineteen Islamic al-Qaeda militants hijacked four planes. The hijackings occurred from Boston, MA, Newark NJ, and Washington D.C. airports. The planes selected were long-distance flights, which would have more fuel in the tanks. On the anniversary of 9-11, please spend a few minutes reflecting upon this event, and praying for the victims who died, and their families and friends. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives that day. Next is a Happy Holiday Grandparents Day the first Sunday after Labor Day This year it is the 11th of Sept. It is a time to celebrate our Grandparents, those special people who are always there with a hug, a kiss, a cookie, something special, or take us somewhere. National Grandparent's Day originated in 1978. Then President Jimmy Carter declared it to be the first Sunday after Labor Day. Sept 16 Is Mayflower Day mainly celebrated in New England. That is the day the Mayflower sailed from Plymouth, England, bound for the New World with 102 passengers. They really planned on going up the Hudson River which was given to them by the King of England. But alas they didn’t make it there and landed in Cape Cod Massachusetts (having been thrown off course by turbulent weather) and later formed Plymouth Colony in MA and wrote the Mayflower Compact where they could have religious freedom, live in peace and still show loyalty to the British crown. Religious Freedom was not what they found in England. Every Mayflower Day, we commemorate these brave, early settlers. seen on the left-hand side with the Ship under the grandparents. The next day is not only Constitution Day on the 17th of September, but the start of Constitution week Sept 17-23 seen on the right-hand side with the man with a three-cornered hat. Constitution Week is the commemoration of America's most important document. It is celebrated annually during the week of September 17-23. The United States Constitution stands as a testament to the tenacity of Americans throughout history to maintain their liberties, freedoms and inalienable rights. This celebration of the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). In 1955, DAR petitioned Congress to set aside September 17-23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into public law on August 2, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The aims of the Constitution Week celebration are to: Emphasize citizens' responsibilities for protecting and defending the Constitution. To inform people that the Constitution is the basis for America's great heritage and the foundation for our way of life. To encourage the study of the historical events which led to the framing of the Constitution in September 1787. September,21 is the feast day of St. Matthew.St Matthew History: The feast day for St. Matthew celebrates the life of Jesus' disciple who wrote the Gospel of Matthew, one of the four gospels in the New Testament that tells stories of Jesus Christ.St. Matthew, one of Jesus' 12 apostles, was born in Galilee, the son of Alpheus (Mark 2:14). His original name was Levi until Jesus changed it to Matthew. He is primarily mentioned in the Gospels in lists of the disciples, except in the Gospel of Matthew, which tells the story of his conversion (Matthew 9:9). The next is Sept.23: the start of Autumn/Fall Autumnal Equinox Day. The Autumn equinox signals the beginning of Fall in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the point where there is exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness at the equator. If you live anywhere else, however, you will see a little bit more or a little bit less than 12 hours of daylight. The daylight hours are dwindling and will continue to do so until we reach the Winter Solstice, Dec. 21 the shortest day of the year and the start of winter. As for your birth Stone and Birth Flowers here are some fun facts as well... Here is your Poem Called Sapphire: For those born when autumn leaves Are rustling in September's breeze, A Sapphire on their brow should bind; The Sapphire, September’s birthstone, has been popular since the Middle Ages and, according to folklore, will protect your loved ones from envy and harm. Medieval clergy wore sapphires to symbolize heaven, while commoners thought the gem attracted heavenly blessings. Blue sapphires range from very light to very dark greenish or violetish blue, as well as various shades of pure blue. The most prized colors are a medium to medium dark blue or slightly violetish blue. The Sapphire is a variety of the gem species corundum and occurs in all colors of the rainbow. white, pink, purple, green, orange, or yellow corundum are known by their color However the Red corundum is the Ruby. To bring them joy and peace of mind. I am not sure Why the ruby isn't just a red sapphire but I didn't do the naming of them. You have two birthday flowers this year I used mainly the second one the Morning Glory in this creation. But have also used Asters the most known birth flower for this month. First the Morning Glory which is used as part of the frame and on the ladies dress. The Morning Glory: brings vibrancy and awareness in thought for September births. As its name implies, morning glory flowers, which are saucer-shaped, open at morning time, allowing them to be pollinated by hummingbirds, butterfly’s, bees and other daytime insects and birds. The flower lasts for a single morning and dies in the afternoon. New flowers bloom each day. The flower color usually starts to fade a couple of hours before the petals start showing visible curling. They are partial to full sun throughout the day. The Morning glory was first known in China for its medicinal uses, due to the laxative properties of its seeds. It was introduced to the Japanese in the 9th century, and they were the first to cultivate it as an ornament. During the Edo Period, it became a very popular ornamental flower. Aztec priests in Mexico were also known to use the plant’s hallucinogenic properties to commune with their gods. In recent years, it’s become abundant in North American gardens. It’s treated as a perennial in many tropical areas and as an annual in colder climates. Your other September birth flower is the Aster the purple/lavender flower in this creation. Aster flowers are symbols of Love, Afterthought, Faith, Wisdom, Valor, and Light. The genus Aster includes some 600 species of widely distributed flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. Aster comes from Greek word for “star”, and refers to the shape of the flower head. Many of the species are popular garden plants because of their showy flower heads. Believed in ancient times that burning the leaves of the aster flower drove away serpents. Also to symbolize afterthought, Aster’s were laid on the graves of soldiers. Last but not least no birthday party is complete without ice cream and cake. For the Ice Cream I used an old ice cream freezer for yummy homemade ice cream, then couldn't resist the Triple decker dish of Ice Cream, and of course a cake to finish out the dessert. There is a little gift for you under the cake ..Oh yes one of this months special foods is Honey. Yummy and oh so good for you so rich in nutrients, it is seen setting on the piano bench next to the lady playing the piano.
