Five Dallas police officers were killed and several others injured on July 7. The shooting was carried out by snipers, who fired on a demonstration in the city’s downtown area. Chief David O. Brown of the Dallas police said that one of the suspects died after being cornered inside a multi-story car park. Three more suspects have been detained. Two of the slain officers have been identified as Brent Thompson and Patrick Zamarripa.
